We were excited to present our October 15th salon, part of our continuing and cherished collaboration with the Wordfest Festival. We were honoured to host renowned author Susan Casey in conversation with Christina Frangou.

Casey is a bestselling journalist and author celebrated for her immersive writing on the mysteries of the ocean. A former editor-in-chief of O, The Oprah Magazine and creative director for Outside, her books — including The Devil’s Teeth, The Wave, and Voices in the Ocean — combine deep reporting with lyrical storytelling, exploring the power and fragility of the natural world. Her latest work, The Underworld, dives into the hidden realms of the deep sea.

This event was part of Wordfest’s Imaginairium Festival (Oct. 11–15, 2023), which connected audiences with more than 50 of the world’s most arresting writers, thinkers, activators, and inspirers — gathered just for you in Calgary, Canada.

Canadian Women’s Foundation and the Canadian Journalism Foundation for her efforts to shed light on gender injustice. Her work has appeared in The Globe and Mail, The Guardian and Chatelaine, and she is a contributing editor at Maclean’s.
